Culinary Arts Students Fill Area Restaurant Needs

The two-year program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation, has more than 180 students enrolled in culinary arts and hospitality management, and is filling the need for workers in culinary arts and hospitality management.
Faculty Member Recognized for 50 Years of Teaching
Carl Locke, who has taught for 50 years, will be retiring from full-time teaching from the College. Locke is one of about two dozen remaining faculty members who have taught at both Graff Area VO/Tech and OTC. He started as a teacher in the Springfield public schools in 1959 and joined Graff in 1973. He taught electricity courses at Graff and the College for 36 years.
First-Ever RN Pinning Ceremony

Click for Video The Associate of Science in Nursing program at Ozarks Technical Community College held a pinning ceremony for its 2009 graduates on Wednesday, May 13. This
year’s event, which was held at the Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield, marked the first-ever
graduating class from the new program. The ASN program is designed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) program
that permits the qualifying LPN to complete the RN nursing courses in 36 weeks. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
2009 Commencement
421 OTC Students participated in Ozarks Technical Community College's 2009 Commencement ceremony. The event was held Thursday, May 14 in the JQH Arena on Missouri State University's campus. A total of 1,222 students graduated between the summer 2008 semester and the summer 2009 semester. Thousands of family members and friends filled the arena to watch the graduates receive their degrees.
2008 Year in Review
Throughout the last year, Ozarks Technical Community College has shown significant growth in a wide variety of areas. New partnerships have been formed, enrollment has increased, physical space has expanded, and students’ lives have been changed. The Year in Review video showcases the exciting new programs, cultural and community events, and historic milestones the College experienced in 2008.
OTC Foundation: Donor Recognition Event
The OTC Foundation grants nearly 200 student scholarships per year due to the generosity of the Foundation’s many donors. The private donations come from local individuals, businesses and memorial scholarships. Recently, scholarship recipients and donors were given the opportunity to meet face to face. For the donors it was a chance to put a face with their contribution and for the recipients it was a chance to say “thank you.”
