Ozarks Technical Community College has selected Dr. Shirley Lawler as its new Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Dr. Lawler, who currently serves as the College’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, will assume the new position on July 1, 2010.

“The exemplary leadership, the experience in both academic and workforce programs, and the constant focus on equipping our students to succeed combine to make Dr. Lawler the ideal choice for this position,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College.  “I look forward to working with her as we continue to grow as an institution and as a community.”

Dr. Lawler holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from Missouri State University, as well as a Doctorate of Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia.  She has approximately 28 years of experience in education; she began her career as a business instructor for Lebanon High School, eventually teaching at Logan-Rogersville High School and Missouri State University, as well.  She has worked with OTC for the last 13 years, serving in positions including Dean of Technical Education, Dean of Academic Services, and Director of Curriculum Development and Grants, as well as continuing to teach part-time throughout her career.

Dr. Lawler will take over the position from Dr. Randy Humphrey, who is retiring after more than 15 years with the College.  Dr. Humphrey will continue to serve as a part-time instructor, and will remain involved in the College’s leadership program for Academic Division Chairs.
