Kids' College - Classes and Camps

The Kids' College classes and camps, part of the OTC Center for Workforce Development's Community Enrichment programs, offer enrichment opportunities for children and teens. All classes are designed to develop new interests, teach meaningful skills and excite students about learning.

A variety of classes are offered during each semester including summer. Each class has an age range. Class sizes are small and tend to fill quickly, prompt registration is encouraged.

Summer Camp

In this exciting and educational summer camp, kids will go over the following topics:

CPR and First Aid Basics
 -Family & Friends CPR teaches you how to give CPR to adults, children and infants.
 -In First Aid for Children, you learn how to deal with children of different ages,
learn about child safety, first aid basics and medical, injury and environmental emergencies.

Cooking

-You will learn how to make healthy snacks.  Each day, you will prepare your own lunch and snack.

Arts & Crafts
-You will create pebble and rock crafts and do scrapbooking.

Time Management
-You will learn what time management is, how to choose priorities (chores, homework, activities, etc.) and set up your daily, weekly and monthly calendars.

Computer Training
-You will work with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Publisher, etc.).

Kid's College - Mad Science

Mad Science - Principles of FlightChildren will explore the fundamentals of aerodynamics in this hands-on program about how things fly.  From the basic principles of flight to building airplanes and testing them in wind tunnels, to hovercraft and balloon-coper building, children will learn what makes things fly and how design effects flight. There will be a lunch break so please bring a sack lunch with a water bottle & small snack per child. Ages 7-12

Mad Science - Edison's Workbench

Team up with your fellow camp inventors to explore the inventions of others—women, kids, Rube Goldberg, Thomas Edison and more.  Draw inspiration from the wacky and the practical things that have been invented.  The goal of this camp is to understand that we have no limitation…our dreams will inspire invention! There will be a lunch break so please bring a sack lunch with a water bottle & small snack per child. Ages 7-12

Mad Science: Jr. Engineers

Young engineers will have lots to talk about after a full day of building and testing structures out of lots of different materials!  They check out pyramids, arches, inflatable beams, test the strength of eggs and build bridges and skyscrapers.  In between, children will have fun playing games and puzzles with shapes and structures.  Bring a sack lunch. Ages 7-12.

Mad Science: Crazy Chemistry

Emerging scientists investigate chemical reactions happening all around us every day, in the kitchen, laundry, garden - even the walls! They'll build crystals, make sidewalk chalk, bath fizzers and a chromatograph T-shirt, investigate water absorbing chemicals, and use chemical reactions to make their own ice cream. Bring a sack lunch. Ages 7-12.
