AED Center of Excellence
The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Center of Excellence is a non-profit organization working within the Ozarks Technical Community College's Community Enrichment Center and assists businesses, organizations, or citizens who choose to develop or implement an AED program in Springfield or southwest Missouri. Our mission is to promote the prompt availability of AEDs to the general public, to ensure quality assurance, and to record the outcome data. The AED Center of Excellence is working within the guidelines of the American Heart Association's "Operation Heartbeat" to provide more Public Access Defibrillation programs in our area.
Our program provides:
- Registration certification to all AEDs within the city of Springfield
- Quality assurance to all AEDs, if needed (fee based service)
- Medical direction (fee based service)
- Information on all FDA approved AEDs
- Assistance with CPR/AED training
- Site visits to ensure AED program efficiency
- Coordinated information to emergency communications, 911 & local emergency medical services on all AED placements in Springfield and Greene county
