Missouri Customized Training Program
The Missouri Customized Training program (MCTP) operated by the Department of Economic Development's Division of Workforce Development (DWD) is an essential tool in the State's efforts to attract and maintain viable industries while preparing Missouri's current workforce for the economic challenges of the global marketplace. The Missouri Job Development Fund is the Department of Economic Development's funding source for the Missouri Customized Training Program. As a part of economic development, this program strives to meet the need for specialized industry training with a focused goal of keeping Missouri's workforce competitive.
The MCTP is designed to assist companies with training Missouri workers to meet the increased demands of technology, quality, and productivity while focusing on job creation and retention, capital investment, and wage rates.
Eligibility
Missouri companies providing full-time permanent employment - a minimum of 35 hours a week - for Missouri residents may be eligible for training assistance if one of the following criteria is met:
- Job creation - New or expanding firms creating net new jobs in the state.
- Job retention - Retraining existing employees as a result of new capital investment or as a result of the introduction of new products or services, or to upgrade quality or productivity.
Types of Training:
- On-the-job training
- Classroom skill training
- Task oriented training
Types of Expenses Reimbursed:
- Instructor salaries
- Curriculum development for customized courses
- Vendor training
- Training materials
- Occupational profiles
Approval Criteria*
Approvals are based on the amount of funds available and how the applicant company compares to other pending projects. In addition, the following factors are also considered:
- New jobs to be created by the company
- Turnover rate of the company
- Average houry wage in comparison to the area average wage and the DWD minimum wage requirements
- Type of industry and occupations for which training is requested
- Type of training the company is requesting
- Economic need of the community or community impact
- Number of jobs in jeopary if training does not occur
- Company funding and expenditure history
- Company history of layoffs
- Other funds the company may be receiving, such as through the Missouri Community College New Jobs Training Program, the Job Retention Training Program or other federal program
