Dr. Shirley A. Lawler became the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at Ozarks Technical Community College on July 1, 2010. Prior to her appointment as Vice Chancellor, Lawler served as the associate vice president for Academic Affairs since 2006.  Lawler was first employed by the college in 1997, and has served in various positions at OTC such as the dean of the technical education division, dean of academic services, and the director of curriculum development and grants.

In her role, Dr. Lawler is responsible for overseeing the college’s instructional programs, which include career and technical education, general education, allied health, and online teaching and learning.  She ensures student success by providing guidance to Student Affairs in their student recruitment and enrollment, registration, financial aid, A+, Veteran’s program, and customer service areas.

Before joining OTC, Dr. Lawler worked in the public schools first as a high school business teacher for 11 years , and then as a school administrator for three years. While working in the K-12 system, Lawler was active in various organizations and held several offices in local and state organizations.

Lawler received her bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 1981 and her master’s degree in 1984 from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. In 2005, she completed her Doctor of Education at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
