Currently Enrolled VA Students

  • After you have registered for classes, complete the OTC Statement of Understanding and Certification Request form and submit it to the OTC Certifying Official.  This can be dropped off at any OTC Student Services location, e-mailed to chaplaij@otc.edu or faxed to 417-447-6925.
  • It is STRONGLY recommended that students receiving VA benefits file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Enroll in e-Cashier.  Eligibility for VA benefits does not make a student eligible for the deferred payment plan.  Only students eligible for benefits under Chapters 31 and 33 are eligible for the deferred payment plan.  Appropriate documentation must have been received from the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Chapter 31 students to be eligible for the deferred payment plan.   Chapter 33 students must have submitted their Certificate of Eligibility to be eligible for the deferred payment plan.
  • Certify your attendance and enrollment status with OTC every month. Using your OTC e-mail account, you may simply send an e-mail to the VA Certifying Official to verify your attendance and report any classes that you have dropped.
  •  Any course additions, course drops, withdrawals, or any changes in your course schedule must be reported to the OTC Certifying Official.  Failure to do so may result in overpayment by the VA.  The VA will hold you responsible for any overpayment of your educational benefits.
  • If you are under Chapters 30, 1606 or 1607 you must verify your attendance directly to the VA at the end of every month.  To verify your enrollment call:  1-877-823-2378 or vist this link.  Failure to verify with the VA will result in nonpayment.
  • Speak with the OTC VA Certifying Official to update any changes in address, program change, or general questions you may have about your VA education file.
