Maryellen Stratmann, M.D., a physician and educator, was elected to the Board of Trustees in April 2008.

Dr. Stratmann was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where she grew up in a blue-collar family.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Notre Dame College, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University.

While a medical student, she worked in the Gene Regulation Laboratory at the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Stratmann completed an internship, residency, and fellowship in Diagnostic and Nuclear Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis (1985).

She has published a number of medical articles in professional journals and has also authored a book.  Over the past 20-plus years, in addition to practicing medicine, she has taught students in seated and on-line classes at the college, medical school, and post-graduate levels.

She also earned a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Missouri State University (2007).

Because Dr. Stratmann relates first-hand to the challenges that many of our students face, she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm and experience with them.  Her son Henry has been an OTC student.
