The mission of SME International is to acquire and distribute manufacturing knowledge among its members and the broader manufacturing community. Recognized globally as the premier source for manufacturing knowledge, education and networking.

SME will be the premier manufacturing knowledge resource throughout the global manufacturing community.
SME and the SME Education Foundation will be known as advocates for careers in manufacturing and a leading resource for manufacturing education.SME will actively engage people and companies in their communities of interest to add value for the member.SME's brand creates the image of the most valued source of manufacturing knowledge.SME will be both lean and effective.SME will deliver knowledge in ways that meet the needs of members and customers.

The OTC / S229 SME Chapter mission is to provide students with an opportunity to interact with industry professional in a technical and social environment, to gain insight into career paths, to increase their knowledge and skills in manufacturing, and provide an opportunity to become certified as a Manufacturing Technologist.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is the premier source for manufacturing knowledge, education and networking. Through its many programs, events, magazines, publications and online training division, Tooling U, SME connects manufacturing practitioners to each other, to the latest technologies and to the most up-to-date manufacturing processes. SME has members around the world and is supported by a network of chapters and technical communities. A 501(c)3 organization, SME is a leader in manufacturing workforce development issues, working with industry, academic and government partners to support the current and future skilled workforce.  SME provides grant and scholarship opportunities to educational institutes and student members.
