Honors Society
The Honors Student Council provides a platform for OTC honors students to achieve academic excellence while encouraging community involvement, service, and leadership. The Honors Student Council works to create an environment for members of a higher learning community, which promotes collaboration, cooperation, and scholarly conscience.
The OTC Honors Student Council has been in existence since 2009. The organization fosters a sense of community among members of the OTC Honors Program. The organization serves to organize social, service and academic endeavors for its members. Members of the OTC Honors Program, the parent program of the Honors Student Council, complete honors courses as a part of their OTC degree and in turn receive transcript notation of honors course, priority advising and registration, small class sizes with selected faculty, honors distinction on the Associate’s Degree, honors scholarship opportunities, acknowledgement of honors program completion at commencement, unique travel and conference opportunities, and availability to transfer honors hours to many University Honors Colleges.
The Honors Student Council does everything from organize monthly member movie nights to an annual Relay for Life team. The organization’s members also engage in fundraising to fund social activities, academic travel and service initiatives such as GED scholarships and charity contributions.
