Equality
Equality

The purpose are to provide person(s) of all sexual orientations an atmosphere that promotes equality; to eliminate stereotypes amongst all persons; and to reinforce that everyone should be recognized and treated with equality regardless of sexual orientation. In addition, to ensure that openly gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender persons are recognized as intrinsic part of the OTC Community.
The principle to keep the rights and interests of members of all sexual orientation of the Association and their supporters. To encourage unity of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered members with the heterosexual members of the community and recognize that we are no different from each other. To eliminate stereotyping aspects of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered. (For example, not using terms to identify a certain sexual orientation.) To promote a closer relationship between the college faculty and between the members.
To sustain and advocate for the validation of the rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students of OTC College with the help from our straight members. To help students in anyway that we can, by directing them to any resources that the OTC campus has to offer (i.e. FAFSA loans), Student Services, Financial Aid, The Learning Center, OTC Cares) and if the OTC Cares is not available we will help student members find adequate help if they are dealing with thoughts of suicide and /or thoughts of harming themselves or anyone else by contacting 911 or 417-447-6911 if on campus.
Biography:
Restarted back in the spring of 2011 to make a change for the better the officers of Equality had envisioned to have a positive presence in the OTC community and to be a safe haven for students who don't have a support system and also a place for students to find that they are not alone. With the help from Equality's Officers we came up with this slogan CONNECT, GROW, and GIVE BACK. Equality wants to CONNECT with each student and hope they will find themselves not only to GROW in numbers, but in mind, body and spirit. We want to GIVE BACK to the community.
We are a DRAMA FREE ZONE.
