Disability Advocacy Club (DAC)

Disability Advocacy Club

Mission/Purpose of Student Organization: To make a difference for students with disabilities.

  • Want(ed) to make a difference for those who have disabilities (originally, we had concerns such as enough disabled parking, accessibility to the campus-mobility impairments)
  • Make it easier for people to get help for more obscure issues...So they would not necessarily have to go to a Dean to get their problem handled.
  • Educate the campus more about Disability Support Services-help students understand that there is a service such as this and help them know how to access it and how it works and those things that are required to help them get necessary services.
  • Provide consultation and advocacy to those students with unresolved disability issues.

This is a new club for all students and faculty members at OTC who wish to join. We will help students with disabilities. Our mission is to aid students in any way we can with special needs. We will also work closely with the DSS. This Club will just be kicking off in the spring and we hope to provide help where ever we can and possibly work with other clubs at OTC. Once we have a good solid foundation we also hope to begin to help charity events, both on and off campus.
