Apply for Graduation
Graduation & Issuing Diplomas
Candidates for graduation must make formal application to the Registrar's Office for the degree or certificate they intend to receive even if you do not intend to "walk" in the graduation ceremony.
Applications for graduation are due:
- July 1st to graduate after the Summer term
- November 1st to graduate after the Fall semester
- April 2nd to graduate after the Spring semester
Steps in the Graduation Process
Review Degree Audit
Review your degree audit using the degree audit link under the AccessOTC tab in your MyOTC account. Double check that the correct program of study is listed and that you have all courses required to complete your program. If you have questions about your degree audit please contact your assigned advisor.
Application for Graduation
Apply online using your MyOTC Account by clicking Apply for Graduation on the AccessOTC tab or download the Printable Application for Graduation (below).
Register for and Complete the Graduation Exit Assessment
You may be required to complete an exit assessment for your program of study. If required, the exit assessment course number (example TST-004) will be listed on your degree audit. When registering for your final semester of classes also register for the graduation exit assessment the same way you would register for a regular course. Testing days each semester are limited. For many of the tests only three or four testing times are available each semester and registration ends one week prior to the assessment date. Visit Graduation Exit Assessment Registration for more detailed information.
Financial Aid Exit Counseling
All students graduating from OTC who have borrowed from the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL) are required to complete a student loan exit counseling. Your diploma & transcripts will be held until you have met this requirement. Click here.
Commencement and After Graduation
OTC holds commencement exercises once a year following the spring term. Students completing program requirements in the spring, summer and fall semesters are invited to participate in the ceremony. Please make certain that you apply for graduation whether or not you plan to attend the graduation ceremony.
Once you've applied for graduation, your coursework will be verified and your diploma mailed to you within six to eight weeks of the end of the term you finish. Your diploma will be sent to the mailing address on file for you in Student Services providing that your record is clear of all holds. Please contact Student Services at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions concerning your record.
Transcripts verifying your degree/certificate are available approximately one week after the commencement ceremony.
