Graduation & Issuing Diplomas

Congratulations!

Candidates for graduation must make formal application to the Registrar's Office for the degree or certificate they intend to receive even if you do not intend to "walk" in the graduation ceremony.

Applications for graduation are due:

  • April 1st to graduate after the Spring semester
  • July 1st to graduate after the Summer term
  • November 1st to graduate after the Fall semester

Steps for Graduation

  1. Complete an Application for Graduation
    1. Online using your MyOTC account
    2. Download the printable Application for Graduation
  2. Register to take the Exit Asessment: Your diploma & transcript will be held until you have met this requirement. 
    1. Associate of Arts Degree - Students are required to take the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP). The CAAP consists of three, 40-minute sections in writing, reading, and math. Please bring an approved calculator to the assessment session.  Schedule your CAAP exit Assessment.
    2. Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate - Students are required to take the WorkKeys Assessment. The WorkKeys assessment consists of three, 45-minute sections in applied math, reading for information, and locating information. Please bring an approved calculator to the assessment session.  Schedule your WorkKeys Assessment. 
    3. Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate in Accounting, Business and Marketing, or Business Technology - Students are required to take the A*S*K Business Institue Exam.  Please call 417-447-6972 to schedule the A*S*K.
    4. Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree - Students are required to pass each section of the College Basic Academic Subjects Examination (CBASE). Students must score at least 235 on each section of the test (Reading/Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies), though four-year institutions may require a higher score for entry into their Teacher Education programs. The exam costs $60 and there is a deadline to register to avoid an additional fee.   3. Pay the $30 Graduation Fee to the Cashier's Office
    1. If using MyOTC to complete the Graduation Application this fee will automatically be charged to your account.
    2. If completing the paper Graduation Application please have the Cashier initial that the fee has been paid prior to turning the form into Student Services.
  4. Financial Aid Exit Counseling: All students graduating from OTC who have borrowed from the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL) are required to complete a student loan exit counseling session. Click here to schedule. Your diploma & transcripts will be held until you have met this requirement.

Commencement

OTC holds commencement exercises once a year following the spring term. Students completing program requirements in the spring, summer and fall semesters are invited to participate in the ceremony. Please make certain that you apply for graduation whether or not you plan to attend the graduation ceremony.

Diplomas

Once you've applied for graduation, your coursework will be verified and your diploma mailed to you within six to eight weeks of the end of the term you finish. Your diploma will be sent to the mailing address on file for you in Student Services providing that your record is clear of all holds. Please contact Student Services at (417) 447-6900 if you have questions concerning your record.

Transcripts

Transcripts verifying your degree/certificate are available approximately one week after the commencement ceremony.
