ASN-200 Transition to Professional Nursing

This is a transition course between the knowledge base as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to the introduction of the knowledge base of a professional Registered Nurse (RN).

 Prerequisite: Admission to the ASN program.		 2-2-x

ASN-210 Advanced Nursing Through the Lifespan I

This course focuses on contemporary nursing of the adult client with complex health alterations.

 Prerequisite: ASN 200.		 3-2-3
ASN-215 Advanced Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing

This course focuses on contemporary nursing of the client through the lifespan with psychiatric/mental health alterations.

  Prerequisites: ASN 200 and concurrently with ASN 210.		 2-1-3
ASN-220 Advanced Nursing Through the Lifespan II

This course focuses on contemporary nursing of the adult client with complex health alterations.

 Prerequisites: ASN 200, ASN 210, ASN 215 and concurrently with ASN 225		 3-2-3
ASN-225 Advanced Family Centered Maternal/Newborn Nursing

This course focuses on contemporary nursing of the childbearing family from pregnancy through birth.

 Prerequisites: ASN 200, ASN 210, ASN 215 and concurrently with ASN 220.		 3-2-3
BCS-200 Microbiology

This course entails a study of the structure, growth, control, classification and identification of microorganisms. In the laboratory students will learn basic aseptic techniques and become familiar with common laboratory procedures. Current issues in Microbiology, particularly issues in clinical Microbiology will be emphasized.

 Prerequisite: “C” or better in BCS 120, BIO 160, BCS 146 or BCS 150. Concurrent enrollment in BCS 146 or BCS 150 is allowed.		 4-3-2

ASN-235 Advanced Pediatric Nursing Concepts

This course focuses on contemporary nursing of the family from neonate through adolescence.

 Prerequisites: ASN 200, ASN 210, ASN 215, ASN 220, ASN 225 and concurrently with ASN 230.		 3-2-3
ASN-240 Community Health and Management

This course focuses on contemporary nursing in the community setting of the adult client with health care alterations.

  Prerequisites: ASN 200, ASN 210, ASN 215, ASN 220, ASN 225, ASN 230, ASN 235 and concurrently with ASN 250.		 2-1-3
ASN-250 Professional Nursing Integration

This course is designed to provide the student with in-depth clinicial experiences within a chosen client care setting.

 Prerequisites: ASN 200, ASN 210, ASN 215, ASN 220, ASN 225, ASN 230, ASN 235 and concurrently with ASN 240.		 3-2-3
PLS-101 American Government and Politics

This course is an introduction to the origin, organization and policy of the United States and state government. The course fulfills Missouri state law requiring instruction in the Constitutions of the United States and Missouri.
