Mad Science: Birds and Beast

Where do owls live and what do they eat? How do some bugs walk on water? Do ants collects all oftheir food? These types of questions and more will be answered with a walk on the wild side, with things to explore like owls, birds, and all kinds of bugs. Students will be introduced to the science of ornithology by investigating different species of birds and how they each fit into their own niches in their enviornment. They will build their own birdhouse and create their own blend of bird food. They will participate in a territory and a food chain game following the rigid rules of nature. They will discover the purpose of a gizzard, dissect their own pellet, and investiage how some insects walk on water. They will learn the parts of an insect by creating their own bug to take home and they will study insect life cycles and behavior by building their own tiny bug house.

Mad Science: Space CampChildren will discover how astronauts live and work in space. The sun, moon, stars and gravity are only a few of the things that we must deal with on this Mad Science mission. Bring a sack lunch.

Mad Science: Chemical Counting

Elements, moecules, and chemicals oh my! Step into the shoes of a chemist and find out how chemicals combine, explore electroplating and cool color changing reactions.

Mad Science: Crazy Chemistry

Emerging scientists investigate chemical reactions happening all around us every day, in the kitchen, laundry, garden - even the walls! They'll build crystals, make sidewalk chalk, bath fizzers and a chromatograph T-shirt, investigate water absorbing chemicals, and use chemical reactions to make their own ice cream. Bring a sack lunch.

Kids' College - Classes and Camps

The Kids' College classes and camps, part of the OTC Community Enrichment Center, offer enrichment opportunities for children and teens. All classes are designed to develop new interests, teach meaningful skills and excite students about learning.

A variety of classes are offered during each semester including summer. Each class has an age range. Class sizes are small and tend to fill quickly, prompt registration is encouraged. Contact us at 417-447-8888 to register.

ACT Exploration

For high school students, this class provides a valuable review of core components of the ACT test, as well as tips and techniques for testing well. Bring a sack lunch.

Foreign Language & Sign Language

All classes are for beginning students and will introduce your student to pronunciation, vocabulary, and simple phrases. Culture and customs will be woven through the courses.

Family Sign Language

Designed for family members to attend together. Tuition is required for each adult (16 and older); children (15 and under) of registered adults are free. Learn the alphabet, basic signs, home/everyday signs, and communication for hearing and non hearing individuals to coexist. Book required.
