Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory

  • (M1) Minimum 7 years of transportation experience,
  • (M2) High School Diploma,
  • (M3) Involvement in an industry training program or school,
  • (M4) Currently hold a Class A CDL

Desirable

  • (D1) Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning,
  • (D2) Simulator training experience,
  • (D3) CVTA instructor certification,
  • (D4) Endorsements on CDL; HazMat, Tanker, Doubles & Triples, Passenger, and/or School Bus

Position Description

Position Title: Part-Time CDL Instructor

Salary Classification: Non-exempt

Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing quality instruction that will provide learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the courses and to be successful in both their education and career experiences.

Authority:

Acts under the delegated authority and general supervision of the Program Manager.

Duties:

  1. Educate and train students to gain skills to drive a commercial motor vehicle; combination and straight.

  2. Effectively manage the truck as a classroom to create optimal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of discipline and be able to transfer knowledge; practical and theory, to students.

  3. Plan and organize daily training for students within overall training schedule, follow lesson plans and instruct students in competency-based developmental program curriculum to assure highest quality instruction.
