Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory

MANDATORY: (M1)  Current unrestricted Missouri State License as a Registered Nurse (RN) or the ability to obtain a license in Missouri; (M2) Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; (M3)  A minimum of 2 years experience within the last 5 years in nursing education, clinical practice, or administration;  (M4) Experience directly related to the teaching assignment; (M5) Demonstrated current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects.

Desirable

DESIRABLE:  (D1)  Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; (D2)  Experience teaching at a community college;  (D3)  Experience using instructional technology; (D4)  Experience teaching online courses;  (D5)  Experience in a leadership role in a professional organization.

Position Title: Instructor - Practical Nursing - Reeds Spring

Salary Classification: Exempt

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:  The instructor will be responsible for the instruction and management of           assigned classes; will maintain professionalism within specialized field, including                               currency and required certifications; will participate on department and college-wide committees and assignments.

Authority:

Authority:   Performs under the delegated authority and general supervision of the Dean of Allied Health.

Duties:

Duties:

  1. Provides quality instruction which is current, accurate, interesting and up to date.
    1. Maintains minimum contact hour teaching assignment as provided by college policy.
    2. In accordance with approved course abstract and procedures, develops a course       syllabus for each class taught and provides a copy to students and the division chair at       the beginning of the semester.
    3. Maintains discipline and decorum in the classroom.
    4. Maintains appropriate record keeping for assigned classes, to include an individual class  roll book.
    5. Schedules and keeps a minimum of five office hours per week, convenient to students.
    6. Is available to assist students outside of scheduled classroom time.
    7. Participates in departmental, committee, and college meetings and decisions. Attends        meetings as scheduled and announced.
    8. Assists in textbook selection.
    9. Participates in curriculum development and works with advisory committees.
  2. Maintains professionalism.
    1. Maintains currency of knowledge and skill in field of specialization and areas of        instruction.
    2. Maintains professional certification, including vocational certification for vocational-       technical instructors.
    3. Participates in professional organizations as appropriate.
    4. Is involved in community activities and services which enhance or support the goals and   mission of the college as appropriate.
  3. Participates in annual commencement ceremony.
  4. Sponsors student clubs and/or organizations as appropriate.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
