The Writing Center
Tough Assignment? We Can help.
The Writing Center
Our Mission: We help people negotiate the process of solving problems through the act of writing.
The Writing Center provides you free, friendly help on any aspect of any writing project. Our experienced staff of student peer tutors can help you with any step in the writing process, including the following:
- Picking a topic
- Prewriting
- Organizing
- Drafting
- Revising
- Editing
- Documenting
We also offer free online tutoring through the Online OTC Writing Center, accessible through Blackboard.
See the Access OTC Online Writing Center Instructions.
In order to ensure that your visit is meaningful and helpful, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
- Students should come to tutoring sessions on time and prepared with the necessary materials to work. Materials include paper and pen, and may also include course assignment descriptions, notes, readings, drafts, and comments or referral sheets from the instructor.
- If students need to miss a session, they should call the Writing Center to cancel or reschedule.
- Students should realize that tutors are not responsible for students' grades, nor can tutors guarantee a grade on a paper. Students should refer questions about grades to their instructors.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we strongly encourage that you set an appointment to be sure we'll have a tutor free to help you.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please email us at www.writingcenter.otc.edu or call us at 417-447-8235.
