Student Scholarships for Campaign
Student Scholarships
A student's financial situation too often severely limits or prohibits him or her from pursuing his/her dream of obtaining a college education.
Nearly half of our students do not qualify for financial aid and are left without assistance. Increasing tuition costs for these students is contrary to our "open door" mission of providing access to all. Even a slight increase in tuition can present a significant deterrent or barrier, inhibiting many OTC students from pursuing their dreams.
OTC can maintain our current programs but will struggle to continue to provide new initiatives needed within the region for our students, businesses, and community to move forward. The OTC Foundation is taking it upon itself to find new revenue sources to create much-needed additional scholarships.
The scholarships that are currently available have been made possible thanks to donations from a number of generous families and organizations.
The OTC Foundation has awarded more than $748,000 in scholarships to OTC students since 1999, including more than 300 since the fall of 2007 through the fall of 2008.
Support of this initiative will allow the College to:
- Increase the number and value of student scholarships
- Recognize more diverse academic talents and achievements with specialized scholarships
- Provide assistance to a wider range of students, including working adults, full- and part-time students and those seeking job-related training for advancement
- Address a variety of student needs including childcare, transportation, equipment and supplemental educational supplies
