Center for Workforce Development
The Center for Workforce Development is the linchpin program that provides the technology, training and
facilities that are so urgently needed by the corporate and industrial groups in the College's service area.
The center's projects are literally education at work and education that works as it customizes and targets
programs so that it is immediately relevant and useful to both the student and the business world.
The center's mission is to provide ways for a business to improve its performance and customize training
techniques to its specific needs.
Businesses can take advantage of a variety of technical topics to help them increase productivity and reduce
downtime. The training at the center is hands-on, customized and delivered on-site by an industry expert.
With the funding support of this initiative, the College plans to:
- Establish and construct a Workforce Development site where focused, short-term training can be provided to businesses and industries
- Respond immediately to program and training needs from our economic partners through the development of new technology, and laboratories with cutting-edge, technology-rich equipment
- Develop and deliver rapid-response training programs to meet the needs of emerging businesses and industries
- Actively recruit candidates for welding, heavy machinery, construction readiness and other skill-based training in addition to developing apprenticeships for qualified students
- Provide the latest advanced training for our faculty in emerging technologies and expanding industries
