Hours Attending and Payment of Aid
The number of hours you are attending may have an effect on your financial aid award. A summary of effects for the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loans are as follows:
Federal Pell Grant (information below applies to all semesters)
| Full Time | 12 or more hours | 100% of pell grant paid for the term |
| Three-Quarter Time | 9 thru 11 hours | 75% of pell grant paid for the term |
| Half-Time | 6 thru 8 hours | 50% of pell grant paid for the term |
| Less than Half-Time | 1 thru 5 hours | +/-25% of pell grant paid for the term |
How do I calculate my Federal Pell Grant amount for the term?
- Find amount shown for Federal Pell Grant in Financial Aid by Term from your MYOTC account in Access OTC.
- Find your enrollment status in the chart above and move to the right to find percentage to use.
- Multiply amount in step 1 by percentage in Step 2
Example:
- Federal Pell Grant amount for term is $5550
- Enrolled in 6 hours, so percentage is 50% (.50)
- 5550 x .50 = 2775
