Straight Talk about Paying for College

  • To be eligible for grants, loans and scholarships you have to apply for financial aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov OTC's school code is 030830; list this on your application.

Approximately 30-40% of all financial aid applications are selected for verification by the Federal Financial Aid processors. If this happens to your financial aid application, you will be required to submit additional documentation. (If additional documentation is needed, you will be informed through the U.S. postal service.) Once you have submitted the requested additional documents, your file will be reviewed in the order your documents were received. We do not determine who is selected for verification and there is no way for us to expedite this process. This verification process can add an additional 8-12 weeks to your financial aid processing time before you receive your award letter. Verification information is only required if the U.S. Department of Education requests the college to collect income documents from the student/family.  For more information regarding verification, please see FAFSA Verification Information and Procedures.

  • There are deadlines associated with applying for financial aid at Ozarks Technical Community College. Not meeting these deadlines will result in your money being disbursed later than the due date for student fees. Each semester has a payment deadline.
  • If you don't pay by the deadline you will be charged late fees.
  • It can take a long time between applying for financial aid and finding out if you are awarded financial aid.
  • Grants, scholarships and loans are rarely enough money to live on from one term to the next. You may need another source of income.
  • To help you pay for tuition and fees while your financial aid is being processed, OR if you are not eligible for financial aid and must pay out of pocket, you can enroll in a payment plan for each term. More information about OTC's payment plan is available at any OTC campus/education center or online at the following link: http://www.otc.edu/ecashier/ecashier.php
