OTC Paramedicine

The Paramedicine Programs prepare students to work as emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics. EMTs are the most common emergency care providers and are qualified to perform basic interventional treatments such as administering CPR or oxygen. We offer a Certificate of Specialization in Emergency Medical Technician; completing the requirements for this certificate is the first step to joining the Paramedicine Program.

Paramedics are similar to EMTs but provide more advanced levels of care including pharmacological and intravenous (IV) treatments. We offer an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and a Certificate of Achievement in Paramedicine. The A.A.S. degree provides students with well-rounded coursework while the certificate program is for students seeking a faster path to graduation. The Paramedicine Programs are selective admission and can only be started once the requirements for the EMT certificate are complete.

We also offer Certificates of Specialization in Critical Care Transport and Community Paramedic. These certificates are designed to help current paramedics specialize to increase their marketability. Applicants to these programs must have completed the Paramedicine Program and be licensed paramedics.

The OTC Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
