MANDATORY: (M1) A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, or Family & Consumer Sciences (M2) Previous Teaching Experience (M3) Computer Literacy

Desirable

DESIRABLE:  (D1) Masters Degree in Related Field, (D2) Experience of working in a child-development laboratory setting (D3) Experience working with at-risk youth (D4) Relationships with local daycare/preschool providers to develop internship programs

Position Title: Adjunct - Early Childhood Development

Salary Classification: Exempt/Faculty

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:   The Early Childhood Instructor is responsible for teaching college level courses and coordination of internships with local early childhood providers.

Authority:

Reports to and acts under the direct supervision of the Middle College Coordinator.

Duties:

Duties:

  1. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and implements Early Childhood curriculum effectively.     
  2. Adapts and creates new instructional strategies to engage students in learning.     
  3. Coaches students in job skills.     
  4. Assists students in gaining paid and unpaid internships.     
  5. Regularly meets with individual students to determine needs, direction, and degree plan.     
  6. Regularly emails, calls, and visits local internship sites.      
  7. Recruits new employers to host Middle College interns.     
  8. Regularly meets with individual students about internship experience and needs specific to them.    
  9. Supports and encourages students’ participation in SkillsUSA. 
  10. Provides immediate response and mentoring as appropriate.  
  11. Provides Attendance Coaching for students that are habitually absent or late.  
  12. Participates in meetings with administration, high school and other college level instructors about the    academic progress and growth of Middle College students.  
  13. Contributes to the effective operation and development of the Middle College program.  
  14. Provides curriculum and assessment support, as needed.  
  15. Participates in student/parent conferences, as needed.   
  16. Assists in program development and strategic planning.   
  17. Pursues professional development.   
  18. Works cooperatively with the early childhood staff.   
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.
