Types of Behaviors to Report

What Behaviors Should I Report?

OTC employees and students are to report all incidents of student behavior that are unusual or alarming to the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). See the Student Concern/Incident Report form to report an incident.

Report the following behaviors:

  • Classroom disruption
  • Drunkeness in the classroom
  • Threatening words or actions
  • Writings that convey clear intentions to harm self or others
  • Observed self-injurious behavior (cutting, burning, etc.)
  • Threatening online postings in Facebook, MySpace, etc.
  • Excessive class absenteeism
  • Acts motivated by hatred or discrimination
  • Paranoia (student groundlessly believes they are being stalked)
  • Stalking
  • Relationship violence
  • Hazing or Bullying
  • Flat effect or extreme lack of responsiveness
  • Harassment
  • Suicidality including following:
    • Threats (I'm going to kill myself)
    • Gestures (erasing one's hard drive, giving away belongings, etc.)
    • Ideation (I've always thought about killing myself)
    • Attempts
