The OTC Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in conjunction with the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners, providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings.
A surgical technologist works under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This individual works under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
A surgical technologist possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
The OTC Surgical Technology program will prepare the students to:
- prepare sterile fields for surgical procedures
- pass instruments to surgeons
- assist with patient transport and care
- help with operating room turnover

Admission Information
- Student Checklist READ FIRST - checklist of required items needed to apply to Surgical Technology program.
- Candidate Selection Form Selection into the program is based on a point system. This form will allow you to track your accumulated points.
- Criminal Background Check
- Application Form Print the application, fill it out, sign, and return it with your application fee to the Allied Health office.
- Reference Form Print three and distribute to individuals who are able to comment on your academic potential, work performance, or potential to function in a healthcare field.
