GED Testing
The GED test has five parts:
- Writing Skills (two parts: multiple choice and an essay)
- Science
- Social Studies
- Literature & the Arts
- Math (two parts: part 1 - calculator allowed, part 2 - calculator not allowed)
Requirements for passing the GED tests are a total minimum standard score of 2250, which is an average of 450 on the five tests, with no score below 410. Scores are valid for two years from test date. Missouri State University and Ozarks Technical Community College are the GED testing sites in this region. The phone number for the MSU Testing Center is 836-5116. The OTC Testing Center phone number is (417) 447-6982. The total cost of the test is $40.00.

Mail an Application for Missouri Certificate of High School equivalence (GED)along with a $20 money order to the GED Office in Jefferson City. Applications are available at all Adult Education and Literacy class sites or online at> http://dese.mo.gov/divcareered/ged_index.htm Click on "Applications" in the sidebar. When your application is approved, you will receive a Missouri GED Testing Authorization form from Jefferson City along with a list of testing site in Missouri. This authorization is required to register for the GED test. |

| Complete the U.S. Demographics form.
The U.S. Demographics Form is required by the GED testing centers in order to schedule the test. It is a form that is used by the federal government to collect census data. The forms are available at all GED class sites. Please call 417-447-8860 for the learning center nearest you. |

| Make an appointment to take the GED Tests.
There is a $20 testing fee, payable at the time you make your appointment. A list of GED test sites in Missouri will be mailed to you along with your Missouri GED Testing Authorization form. Pick the testing site of your choice to make an appointment. |

If you have all of the above information, you will need to either bring this information to our office located in the Information Commons East Building, Suite 127, on the Springfield Campus or mail the information to our office (please contact our office for the correct mailing address at 417-447-6982). Once all of this information is received, you will be given an admission sheet, detailing the instructions for the testing date. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. When calling our office, leave a message and your phone call will be returned within 48 hours. |
