GED Online Classes
GED Online Classes
GED online classes are recommended for students who are having difficulty with schedules and/or transportation. Although it is recommended students are at the 8th grade reading level to work online, GED Online does have curriculum for readers at the 3rd grade level, plus material for lower level math students. However, students should have some computer knowledge and have an e-mail account.
Two steps to complete student enrollment:
• How to Enroll Online: Go to the website www.gedonlineclass.com. Read the Home page. Click on the Introduction to GED Online tab and read the introduction. Click on Enroll Now. In Enroll Now, click Enroll Now Arrow at the bottom, read the GED Online Policies and click “I accept.” Successfully complete the computer questionnaire. Fill out the GED Online Enrollment Form. Answer all of the questions. About two-thirds of the way through, you will be asked, “Have you already taken your TABE assessment tests at a class site?” Answer, “No.” At the bottom of the form you will see a Submit button. You must click that Submit button for your enrollment form to be submitted. Be sure to wait and see if it was all filled out correctly and submitted. In a few days your instructor will email information on AEL class sites.
• How to Complete the Testing: Go to an Adult Education class site and take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Let the instructor know you will be enrolling in the GED Online Class. After completing your TABE tests, remind your instructor that you plan to enroll online. The instructor will email your results to the online instructor. Next, complete the procedure above for enrolling online, but mark “Yes” for the question, “Have you already taken your TABE assessment tests at a class site?” Fill in the location and the instructor’s full name.
In a few days you will receive an email from your online instructor, Mary Ann Hawk. Her e-mail is hawkmary@rockwood.k12.mo.us. Watch both your inbox and junk mail for this e-mail. It would be a good idea if you put your online instructor’s e-mail address in your address book. If you have not received anything from your online instructor in a few days, please e-mail her!
Usage - Students are expected to work online a minimum of three hours per week on a regular basis.
GED Online post-testing policy
You must re-test every three months at an onsite classroom. All students will be sent an email telling them about the post-testing requirements. TABE scores must be sent to the online instructor in order for the student to remain in class. If TABE scores are not received, the student’s access to the classroom will be denied. If the student does not complete a post-test within three months, the student will be removed from the online class.
