Missouri Basic Exam for Dental Assistants
CEH 295 Missouri Basic Skills Review and Exam
One of the pathways for eligibility to take the Missouri Expanded Functions courses is presentation of a certificate demonstrating completion of the Missouri Basic Skills Exam. CEH 295 Missouri Basic Skills Review and Exam is a four-week, fully online review course offered by Ozarks Technical Community College via Blackboard, an online learning management system. CEH 295 is designed to prepare dental assistants for the Missouri Basic Skills exam, which requires a minimum score of 75% for successful completion. After completion of the review course, the dental assistant is required to appear in person for the 90-minute state exam, which is delivered at an approved proctoring (testing) location. At the proctoring location, a person called a 'proctor' will verify the dental assistant's identity and monitor the exam completion process. Proctoring sites are available at testing centers (such as Sylvan Learning), local universities, colleges, libraries, extension offices, and some financial institutions. An exam completion certificate will be sent directly to the dental assistant .
The Missouri Basic Skills exam consists of 115 multiple-choice questions. The exam is timed (90 minutes) and consists of the following percentages of category questions:
o General Chairside: 20%
o Infection Control: 30%
o Tooth Morphology/ Anatomy: 20%
o Dental Materials: 10%
o Radiology: 5%
o Legal Issues/ Jurisprudence: 5%
CEH 295 is separated into ten learning lessons. Each lesson covers a specific content area, and includes Key Terms, PowerPoints, and a Practice Quiz, all designed to help a dental assistant successfully pass the Missouri Basic Skills exam.
