Construction, Fire Science, HRA, and Graphic Design Department
The mission of the Construction Technology Program is to be a premiere program committed to excellence in teaching; empowering students to be knowledgeable, skilled, qualified, employable graduates, prepared for productive and meaningful careers in the construction industry.
The Heating, Refrigeration, and A/C program strives to provide quality, accessible, and occupationally-oriented courses to the greater Springfield community as related to the mission of the college and the Technical Division. The root of this mission is to provide students with knowledge and hands-on skills that will prepare them for employment in the HVAC industry at entry level or higher. Types of employment could include installing, servicing, repairing, and selling, commercial and residential heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
The mission of the Fire Science Technology program is to educate, train and prepare students for employment, promotion and advancement in a firefighting career by providing opportunities to new and current firefighters thereby increasing their employment, promotional and advancement probability.
The Graphic Design Technology program’s mission is to provide instruction and training in various Graphic Design employment areas, reflecting local and national labor market needs. Courses promote job competencies that students should master in order to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to secure personally satisfying and socially useful employment.
Construction Technology (CST) and Heating/Refrigeration/Air Conditioning (HRA) programs meet the industry standards of the Associated General Contractors Association (AGC) and the National Association of Industry/Technology (NAIT) as applicable. This department also offers programs in Fire Science Technology (FST), and Graphic Design Technology (GDT).
