EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

Make a difference in the lives of young children by joining the OTC Early Childhood Development Department. All of our courses are online, so you can study on your schedule. Our online content is easy to navigate, and assignments are meaningful. Our practicum courses will get you the experience you need to find employment right away. Early childhood education is about teaching children to learn through play, so it’s a fun, stress-free environment where you’ll learn a lot too.

Our program enjoys a special connection to the community as students have the opportunity to teach local children through the Early Childhood Education Center. The Center provides valuable, hands-on opportunities for OTC students to apply the knowledge and skills they gain in class. Our mission is to provide every student with developmentally appropriate and differentiated learning approaches using standards, theory, and current research applied with innovative teaching methods.

We offer an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Certificate of Achievement, both in Early Childhood Development. Graduates will be qualified to seek work as a school paraprofessional, early childhood teacher or manage their own in-home childcare center. Other graduates choose to continue their education by pursuing a four-year degree. The Early Childhood Development Program and the Lewis Family Early Childhood Education Center lab school are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
